In The last few weeks I did two thirty mile bike rides with my dad and three friends friends from work.
Bike Ride #1: This was my longest bike ride! This was the first bike ride in a few years I did that was over 15 miles. The last ride I did over 15 miles was with Grandpa Mike when I was about 9 or 10. The first three or so miles of this ride were really rough because the ground was very gravely and I was riding my road bike, not my mountain bike so the thin tires on the gravel didn't do so well. About 8 miles into the ride I got a flat in my rear wheel. That was really disappointing, and so Dad and I started walking back to the car. On our way back my Dad got a text from one of the guys we were riding with. he asked where we were and if we were ok. We told him about my flat tire and he told us he had an extra inner tube so he rode back to meet my dad and I. We replaced the inner tube However, we didn't have a pump. So we started asking people riding by and a nice couple had a pump and we finished with my tire. We then rode 7 miles up to valley forge. We took a little food break and then we were back on the rode. The ride back was going really well until we got to mile 29. I rode the last mile or so with a flat tire. We weren't so prepared for this trip.
Bike Ride #2: A couple days before this trip my dad got all the equipment we needed for this ride so we were prepared. He got each of us an emergency kit including patches, Allen Wrenches, inner tubes, and a little trunk to keep it all in. My dad also got us a little pump that attaches to his bike. This trip we started the trail off a little bit differently. we went a more hilly way to avoid the gravel. This trip was a little easier with out the flats. After our stop in valley forge we decided to take the gravely path back to the car instead off the hilly path. No Flats!
I hope to do more of these rides and I hope to start doing some more Geocaches.
